I popped these along the front border of a planned bed to add some early color. Most of them seem to be the yellow varieties. No purples and only a couple white. They're very adorable, though- tiny little buds of color right where I need them most. Super easy to plant and totally non-maintenance! I'll probably buy another batch next year to mix into the border on the other side of the bed.

I planted these in my front yard's bed. I have sandy soil so I mixed mushroom compost in the bed to make the soil better. I followed the correct light requirements and planting depth requirements. Only two or three bulbs grew shoots and I had one purple flower per emerged bulb--that is it. No yellow or white flowers. For thirty bulbs, this was highly disappointing. Maybe having pinestraw in the beds affected their success rate. We also had a warmer winter than normal. Who knows why they weren't successful.

Comments about American Meadows Wild Crocus or Snow Crocus Bulbs Mix:
I had excellent results with these bulbs. After popping them in my garden around the base of a tree, I forgot how many I had planted and was pleasantly surprised at the end of winter. They were some of the first crocus in my neighborhood to bloom.Ravenous deer did not touch them.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

I ordered these in fall 2011 and planted immediately. The first early spring, I had maybe 1 or 2 flowers TOTAL from all 16 bulbs. This year, I saw absolutely no sign of any crocus. I followed planting instructions and enriched my soil with mushroom compost since it is mostly sandy. These bulbs were a complete waste of money.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend
beautiful combination of blue and yellow

About Me Getting Started
These beautiful flowers started showing beginning of March in a mix of blue, light yellow and bright yellow. They give a good company to pansies but rabbits and squirrels started eating flowers as well as their leaves. I applied rabit repelent but problem still continues.I wish this could be solved and we can enjoy them more.

I love these! I planted them all in my walled garden and worried all winter that the soil would be too moist and they would surely all die.But in January they started coming up. By February the white and yellow ones were blooming. And now in March the purple and purpley-white ones are blooming! They survived the wet Seattle winter!

Use in front of border, blooms are early but very small and un-noticed unless standing in front of them. Will try another variety next time.
Oops! I lied!
from San Leandro, CA
In my previous review, I mentioned that I didn't get any purples, only yellow and white. We had a very cold wet weekend, then a bright sunny Monday. When I looked out this morning, there were purple and white blooms all over my lawn, including the dark purple striped Minimus! I guess they just needed the extra rain?

A snowy surprise!

About Me Master Gardener
These bulbs are so hardy, they begin to appear right through our massive Chicago snowfalls! A perfect start to the gardening season so early in the year.
Best for impatient gardeners

These great little flowers are good for people who don't like waiting for plants to begin blooming in spring. Mine were blooming in the middle of March and survived a light snowfall. Flowers are tiny but these bulbs bloomed prolifically--easily 4 or more buds per plant. A very cheerful way to end winter. The mix is nice, I didn't get a majority of only one color.
First Crocus after big snow

I live in Denver, and we just had a very wet snow fall. As it melted I was thrilled to see the first crocus starting to flower. If they can survive and bloom here, they can do well anywhere.
