This famous herb is terrific as a wildflower groundcover, or as a clump in a blooming meadow, since not only foliage, but flowers are lovely and lasting. However, it can become invasive. If seeded widely, it can fill a meadow area and exclude everything else within two or three years. Yarrow has a great medieval herbal history, and has been used in medicine and magic for centuries. It is also a favorite for dried flower arrangements.

Comments about American Meadows White Yarrow Seeds:

The seeds must have come in a mix ordered from this sight as that is all I have planted in the bed. It has now taken over my entire bed and choked out all the pretty colorful flowers. Only use where you want it to spread out and cover everyhting! Now to dig them out!

Comments about American Meadows White Yarrow Seeds:

We use this as a ground cover (lawn substitute) becasue it grows well under our eucalyptus and pine trees. It has low water requirements and can be mowed periodically. It also takes foot traffic well.

      USDA Hardiness Planting Zones

To determine if a plant is sufficiently cold hardy, the USDA created numbered zones indicating winter low temperatures; the lower the zone number the colder the winter.

      • If the coldest winter temperature expected in your area is -15°F (zone 5) then any plants rated zones 3-5 will survive the winter temperatures in your area.
      • If you live in very warm winter areas (zones 9-11) plants with zones 3-4 ratings are not recommended. The lack of freezing winter temperatures do not provide a time for winter dormancy (rest).
