Comments about American Meadows Bee Balm or Wild Bergamot Seeds:

I cold stratified these by sowing the seeds in a milk jug filled with planting medium and then placed the jug outside around February 2015. The seeds are very small and many of them germinated. I potted up the 5 strongest seedlings (some sprouted and fizzled out but that's life!) and they are doing great- about 8 inches tall now. I think they're ready to go into my butterfly garden as a complement to the scarlet-colored bee balm I already have.

Comments about American Meadows Bee Balm or Wild Bergamot Seeds:

I planted the seeds when they arrived in the spring and these babies grew fast. They were great for cut flowers. I planted these in full sun and near the border of my driveway. Very hardy with little water.

Sowed seeds in the fall. Seeds germinated this Spring and are already six inches tall. Very happy with the quality of the seeds.

            USDA Hardiness Planting Zones

To determine if a plant is sufficiently cold hardy, the USDA created numbered zones indicating winter low temperatures; the lower the zone number the colder the winter.

            • If the coldest winter temperature expected in your area is -15°F (zone 5) then any plants rated zones 3-5 will survive the winter temperatures in your area.
            • If you live in very warm winter areas (zones 9-11) plants with zones 3-4 ratings are not recommended. The lack of freezing winter temperatures do not provide a time for winter dormancy (rest).
