Comments about American Meadows Blue Sage Seeds:

A little different than what I expected based on the Salvias I have planted in the past -- but these are better! These are WAY hardier than the ones you get at the nursery as plants. In the past, I have always treated these as annuals and would buy plants every spring to put in the garden because in my area (zone 6) they had never survived the winter. HOWEVER, most of the ones that sprouted from these seeds have now overwintered successfully for 3 years including last year's brutal one that killed a few shrubs. They will die back completely, but manage to poke through 3 inches of new mulch every spring. They are not quite as flower-heavy as the variety that you buy as plants, these are taller and bushier but are nonetheless well covered with spikes on top. They tend to flower more heavily later in the season into the fall.

Comments about American Meadows Blue Sage Seeds:

service is good, but like the other review i planted mine on the slope in back yard. it never came up. followed up the next year still nothing.

have bought many seeds that have done very well and enhance my yard. i will continue to buy seeds that grow.

Comments about American Meadows Blue Sage Seeds:

Bought this and a bunch of other seeds to plant on a sloped area behind the house, followed the planting directions, put down a thin layer of topsoil and straw and watered the area as required, never bloomed, in fact most of the seeds didn't, hoping for a miracle next spring

          USDA Hardiness Planting Zones

To determine if a plant is sufficiently cold hardy, the USDA created numbered zones indicating winter low temperatures; the lower the zone number the colder the winter.

          • If the coldest winter temperature expected in your area is -15°F (zone 5) then any plants rated zones 3-5 will survive the winter temperatures in your area.
          • If you live in very warm winter areas (zones 9-11) plants with zones 3-4 ratings are not recommended. The lack of freezing winter temperatures do not provide a time for winter dormancy (rest).
