Description
Long a favorite of herbalists, calendula is also one of our edible flowers. During the Middle Ages, it was used to treat headaches and heart ailments. Also called “Pot Marigold”, it was an ingredient for puddings during the 16th and 17th century in Europe. Today, the flowers can be used to decorate cakes and salads. It is also currently one of the top herbs used for medicinal use, particularly in Europe. Flower petals are dried and used for teas. The medicinal qualities of this plant seem to indicate a strengthening of the immune system, and the preparations are used mostly for mouth and throat problems, such as sore throat. It is also helpful in encouraging healing of wounds.

Comments about American Meadows Calendula Seeds:

I love using these seeds in pots on my patio. I also have a large bed of them in my herb garden. The flower petals are a beautiful addition to summer salads! Added to some almond oil they also make a lovely summer moisturizer. The seeds from American Meadows have an excellent germination rate. I've always been very please with everything I have ordered from them.

Comments about American Meadows Calendula Seeds:

Calendula is an easy to grow, easy to care-for wildflower. It covers the ground and keeps other weeds down, is water thrifty, and reseeds without any help from humans or mowing. Calendula is attractive, edible, and a great investment for soapmakers and crafters. Calendula has a tendency to escape beds and enter lawns if seeds are not collected at season's end. Plants require sun and do only fairly in part shade. Dry, poor soil is no match for Caldendula. Seeds are large and easy to plant. There are multiple calendula species, colors, petal configurations, so breeding true is difficult: enjoy variety!
