Description
This one is a well-known edible plant, the roots being ground for “chicory coffee”, a specialty of Cajun cooking in Louisiana. Leaves have been used since Roman times for medicines. But the electric blue flowers are what makes chicory famous. Along a roadside in bright sun, this is one of the biggest shows in the flower kingdom. Everyone loves the brilliant blue, even though the flowers close in the afternoon and on cloudy days. The subject of several romantic legends, chicory is one of our most historic wildflowers.

Comments about American Meadows Chicory Seeds:

While Chickory did not do as well as some of the other wildflowers I've planted, still it did produce pockets of sky-blue throughout the meadow I planted it in. I think next time I plant it I'll prepare the soil a little better, this plant seems to need just a litle more "care" than others I've "thrown" in my meadow. Still, I do plan on trying it again.

Comments about American Meadows Chicory Seeds:

Just planted these this spring. Was afraid the seeds wouldn't sprout (because poppy seeds I bought the year before from somewhere else never sprouted). These seeds that I got from American Meadows have sprouted magnificently. I'm delighted. Also delighted with the amount of seeds I got for the price--a great bargain.
