Description
Actually a No. American native plant hailing from Mexico, the nasturtium has been a hybridizer's favorite for years. Kids love them since they're so easy to grow, and the giant-sized seeds are so easy to handle. Cooks enjoy them since the flowers are edible, and make wonderful decorations for cakes and pastries. All nasturtiums trail somewhat, but this is the more upright version, not the long-trailing one often used in baskets.

Comments about American Meadows Nasturtium Seeds Jewel Mix - 1/4 LB:

I have a long, narrow area that runs from my house down to my garage, with a sidewalk on one side and a fence on the other. The dirt there had become as hard as a rock. We tilled it by hand and sprinkled the nasturtium seeds along it, lightly covering with soil as instructed. The plants came up quickly. What surprised me was how tall and bushy they have gotten. They have finally begun to flower, and the blooms, while not as abundant as they might be, are brilliant in their orange and yellow colors. I've done nothing for or to them but lightly water for a few weeks after planting. They are in full sun all day, and with the little amount of rain we've had, they are still full and healthy.

I create my own wildflower mix using a variety of seeds. I then use the mix for my seed ball business. American Meadows is always helpful and accommodating. They are the only seed company I use!

Comments about American Meadows Nasturtium Seeds Jewel Mix - 1/4 LB:

Used as high school greenhouse project - including taste testing & served by Consumer/Family Science classes as plating presentations. Instructors & students VERY PLEASED with results! Germinated very well & quickly. Provided nice color to greenhouse. Apparently, an acquired taste - only about half "taste testers" liked the flavor. Good high school ag greenhouse project.
