Description
Not to be confused with the bright red window-box flower that are called "geraniums," this is the wild version of the real thing--closely related to the garden perennial geraniums like "Johnson's Blue," and "Sanguineum."

The wild one grows to only about 2 ft. and the wide-open, petunia-like flowers range from pink to purple. Beautiful blooms in early summer.

Nontrivial to Germinate

By Gallifreyan Jedi

from Laurel, MD

Comments about Wild Geranium Seeds:

Since American Meadows' seed packets do not include plant-specific germination instructions (and I was too lazy to look some up), I have had trouble germinating these seeds. However, I did some searching and discovered that they germinate best when sowed just below the soil's surface and kept at 40 degrees. Most of the other seeds I bought from AM germinated fine (the other two that didn't are apparently also finicky germinators), so I'm sure these seeds will also do well once I stop mistreating them.
