USDA Plant Hardiness Zones

To help gardeners understand which plants will grow well for them, the entire USA has been segmented into ‘Plant Hardiness Zones’. Knowing your zone number is helpful when shopping for plants because:

  • Cold-area gardeners can avoid buying plants that simply won’t survive their lowest winter temperatures.
  • Warm-area gardeners can steer clear of plants that need a period of cold weather in order to bloom again.

The Wildflowers of the Pacific Northwest

With its plentiful rainfall, the Pacific Northwest is a great garden for wild flowers. What botanists call The Pacific Forest is unique on the continent, and is known for its grand stands of large fir, spruce, hemlock, cedar and redwoods, plus a huge diversity of smaller native plants and flowers.

With comparatively mild temperatures year round, your region has its own distinct group of native wildflowers, and many of them are in our mixtures. Species such as Chinese Houses, the beautiful Clarkias (Clarkia amoena & Clarkia unguiculata) and many more are enjoyed both in their native range and in many other regions of the United States.

Our Proven Mixture of Wildflower Seeds for the Pacific Northwest is our best-seller, and our premium All-Native Wildflower Mix for the Northwest has even more native species. Either mix can be successfully planted in the Northwest in spring or fall.

For the benefit of all farmers, gardeners and consumers who want an alternative, We pledge that we do not knowingly buy, sell or trade genetically engineered seeds or plants.

The mechanical transfer of genetic material outside of natural reproductive methods and between genera, families or kingdoms, poses great biological risks as well as economic, political, and cultural threats. We feel that genetically engineered varieties have been insufficiently tested prior to public release. More research and testing is necessary to further assess the potential risks of genetically engineered seeds.
