The Pollinator Partnership's mission is to promote the health of pollinators, critical to food and ecosystems, through conservation, education and research. Signature initiatives include the NAPPC (North American Pollinator Protection Campaign), National Pollinator Week, and the Ecoregional Planting Guides.

Pollinator Partnership

The Million Pollinator Garden Challenge (MPGC) is a nationwide call to action to preserve and create gardens and landscapes that help revive the health of bees, butterflies, birds, bats and other pollinators across America. We will move millions of individuals, kids and families outdoors and make a connection between pollinators and the healthy food people eat.

This premium mix is a blend of 19 hearty wildflower varieties from daisies, black-eyed susans, and lupines to penstemon, mexican hat, and of course, purple coneflower. This is the mix for the serious wildflower gardener who doesn't mind waiting a year for the big blooms (Most perennials need to go through a winter after germination before blooming.), but who really wants to invest in a permanent planting that should increase in color year after year.

We recently added California Poppy and Clasping Coneflower to this mixture, and it serves two purposes. It is a perennial in its native range, so will be a permanent plus for gardeners in light-winter areas. For others, it will be a good marker species since unlike other flowers in this mix, it blooms the first year from seed, and will indicate the success of your planting.

Comments about American Meadows All Perennial Wildflower Seed Mix:

Used it to create a large wildflower bed in our backyard. The seeds germinated and the plants filled in very nicely even though this was only the first year. I did sow heavier than recommended because I wanted it to fill in fast and prevent the turf grass from coming back.

Comments about American Meadows All Perennial Wildflower Seed Mix:

In the spring, I realized there was a large area of untouched soil with no growth left behind from new leach lines put in the previous fall. The area was about 30ft x 30ft in our field. I ordered 3 lbs. of wildflower seeds: 1 lb of Perrenial mix, 1 lb of Midwest mix & 1lb Butterfly/ hummingbird Wildflower mix. They arrived very promptly :) I had the area tilled, combined the 3 different seed mixes together in a large coffee can, and sowed the seeds by hand. ( I just grabbed handfuls of seeds and flung them while moving in one direction, and then went over the entire area again from an opposite angle, to make sure I had good coverage). Then I rolled a seed roller over the entire area, so the seeds had good soil contact. I only watered the area for the first week, and then let Mother Nature take care of the rest! Sow time was mid May? And the flowers really started popping up end of June/ early July. Every week they just got fuller and more blooms! Lots of color, tons of cosmos in all colors. Great for cut flowers, and they really attract the birds and butterflies! It is almost October, and there are still blooms out there! These seeds were worth the extra money...I even had some left over that I sprinkled in some other areas :) My new wildflower field inspired me to mow a nice curving path all the way around it & add a bench to sit and enjoy! Have fun!

The seeds germinated, but little in the way of flowers in year one.. Now in year two, we see one lone set of white daisies.....pretty, but lonely. We've got sandy soil and some weed competition. I'll go another direction.

I love these flowers..planted them late spring of last year so I didn't get the full benefit until this year....and this year they were gorgeous - vivid pinks and yellows and white flowers....just amazing and they bloom for a long time - pretty much all summer based on last year...I would definitely buy these again although I am looking at their other varieties and they look wonderful too

Planted 2 acres of wildflower seed this year and mixed other seed varieties all together. Started beekeeping and working on expanding planting area by 3 to 5 acres next year. Great for the bees, great to look at and provided vibrant colors all summer.

Absolutely loved results. Planted these on a new mound in front of our house pretty much as a money saving move (we just moved in). We are VERY pleased with results an plan on continuing this approach instead of buying plants at nurseries.
Many compliments and oohs and ahhs.

Comments about American Meadows All Perennial Wildflower Seed Mix:

I planted these in early/mid summer. Early on a few sprouts came up and I figured I didn't plant correctly and forgot about them, I saw many green sprouts later in the fall although that was it. The next spring as I was raking, we had a ton of green, I had to weed it out, as I was weeding I realized this was all wildflower perennials. It was amazing and they ALL came to life! This area was full of flowers, I transplanted over 40 of them without making a dent into the garden I originally planted. It has been four years, and they are all still going strong! I have broke them up further for other gardens. You need to be patient and wait a year if planted too late the first year...

Since this is a perennial mix and I just planted it late this summer it seems to be doing great with lots of small sprouts (should be focussing on root growth). Hopefully next season it will explode.

This is the only reason I gave it 4 stars and not 5 (to early to tell, but seems like it is doing well).

I just got it and planted it last fall - and it's only March yet. Our frost date in Ohio is May 15th, and even with this crazy weather we are having, I don't expect to see much for a number of months yet. I loved the fact though that there was so much in the bag, and ALL SEED! that I could use half, and share half with another gardening friend.

I just put them in this spring, so it's too early to say much. The growth seems to be doing well so I look forward to seeing what they look like next year!

We spread these in our under-tended urban park, and the results have been smashing. The results last for years and require minimal care for maximum effect. Thanks!

It was very easy to sow the seeds. I didn't even rake them into the soil. The first spring I had tons of plants and even some flowers. The second spring it exploded with flowers. Might not be the best method for creating a "Formal" garden - but for side beds or a meadow it is excellent.

                                              USDA Hardiness Planting Zones

To determine if a plant is sufficiently cold hardy, the USDA created numbered zones indicating winter low temperatures; the lower the zone number the colder the winter.

                                              • If the coldest winter temperature expected in your area is -15°F (zone 5) then any plants rated zones 3-5 will survive the winter temperatures in your area.
                                              • If you live in very warm winter areas (zones 9-11) plants with zones 3-4 ratings are not recommended. The lack of freezing winter temperatures do not provide a time for winter dormancy (rest).
