This the first spring after planting last year. The first year yield was nice but this is impressive. I'm looking forward to what the mid and late summer selection will look like. This was a barren septic tank drain field area for our new home. There is quite a hill and slope, however, thanks to the wild flower population it looks like most of the soil is going to stay up where it belongs.

I bought 5 pounds of the southeast mix and planted early summer(june 1 2012) in south central mississippi. The area is 12 x 450 a little over an acre.I sprayed the area twice with roundup before planting and disked 3 times.I also applied a little 13-13-13 and disked in.I just walked ( May 29 2013 )the wildflower patch and this is what I got.99% gloriosa daisys 5 feet tall, 1 not 1% wild cosmos,2 not 2% shasta daisys, 3 not 3% wild lupine 1 not 1% globe gilia,The gloriosa daisys are 5 feet tall and have overpowered everything else.I just wonder if they sent me 5# of gloiosa daisys.I would not recommend unless you want a gloriosa daisy patch. They are starting to fall over and I don`t know what will happen then? The same thing happened last year but not as many Daisys.

Comments about American Meadows Southeast Wildflower Seed Mix:

I used the wildflower seed for a small meadow I cleared on our wooded lot. I'm in my second year now, and add new seed every year. The perennials from the first seeding two years ago returned thick and lush as hoped and expected. This year's seed will take some time before it shows its stuff, but the plants are sprouting nicely. Now that I know which of the seed species within the mix are suited to the soil and lighting conditions, I intend to buy more of those particular species. I'm quite impressed with the results of my meadow experiment so far, and can't wait to order more seed!

Comments about American Meadows Southeast Wildflower Seed Mix:

My only complaint is that when I used these seeds to "guerrilla garden" (brighten banks of nearby train tracks) the train company chopped 'em down before they could be enjoyed. That was a surprise, but, no fault of the seeds. Recommend.

Planted a small area this year to see how flowers would grow in
poor soil along part of my driveway. Did some soil admendment and the flowers have done very well. They continue to bloom
late into August. The Cosmos have been spectacular!

I was/am surprised by the height of the cosmos (some are over 6 feet!) but they been slow to bloom (some haven't even shown a bud yet) and the cosmos have dominated other flowers (my guess) from growing. However, I am hopeful.

I planted a wildflower patch in an area with erosion. I was hopeful there would lots of blooms to use for my son's wedding. I didn't time it so well so we planted extra. I have tons of new plants coming up so I'm quite hopeful I have timed it right. The earlier blooms did beautifully as cut flowers. They lasted for days.

Comments about American Meadows Southeast Wildflower Seed Mix:

I planted a bit more than an acre very late for us, about late May. I tilled and raked the soil with my tractor, spread the seeds mixed with sand at a 10:1 ratio of sand to seed, rolled the soil and left it. I was concerned not much would happen, but took a shot. I did have some weed start early in June, but the wildflowers have come on strong. I plan to cut and drag after several frosts, and overseed this winter. Have a good meadow now, should have an excellent one in the spring/summer of next year. The seed was very high quality, and had an unusual amount of germination in the middle of summer.

Comments about American Meadows Southeast Wildflower Seed Mix:

Planted these at the Northeast Georgia Boy Scout camp for color during Summer Camp. We had 26 days of rain during the first 40 days of planting so the water was not the issue. The ground was prepared correctly but the germination was sparce and the Ranger interseeded with some wild flower mix from a local retailer. It was a little disapointig and the only successful germinations were Purple Cone Flower, Blackeyed Susan and the Blue bonnet. There were a few others but the color was not as expected. The seed was distributed over about 5000 sq feet. may try again in the future.

Tried this mix in zone 9 FL, with mixed results. It was the first year so the perennials did not bloom yet. Hopefully next year will be better.

Great product. Germinated well in rough rocky soil. Has flourished even during the heat and dryness of summer. Stunning display. Do recommend buying 2x-3x the recommended coverage to ensure density of flowers and plants.

Comments about American Meadows Southeast Wildflower Seed Mix:

As my first large wildflower plot I hoped for 50% growth but I think nearly all seeds germinated. I see primarily zinnias from afar but others are there when you look up close. I started in the Spring this year and sowed seed onto lightly tilled soil then rolled it in, following package directions and am happy with results. We have lots of rabbits and some deer and neither have touched these flowers. I have more seed on hand for two other areas. This time I'll start in the Fall to see how that goes. I have not cut many blooms since I want to see if they will reseed and the bugs have damaged them at this point in the summer (late July). Great product and will definitely buy from them again.

Our disappointment resides in the results. A few types of flowers overwhelmed the majority of the mix of types. AS the seeds are mixed, how could one separate for best growth?
While pricing was good, delivery was good, and some flowers grew great - the lack of variety surviving overwhelming growth of a few types leaves us baffled as to our recommendations or how to overcome it in the future.

This wildflower mix was purchased to help the bee and butterfly population. We started with a boarder along the side of our house and extended to another area in the back yard. Beautiful blooms are long lasting and look so pretty when the wind blows. Will be adding other sections around home in the fall.

I have used this in large fields in the past and it was beautiful, returning for several years. Now I am using it in large flower beds around the house because it bloomed in a spot last year for such a long time. We have had drought conditions until this year so I am excited to see this year with real spring rains!! It does sometimes take two years to really establish but sure is nice when it returns.

Our conservation project never looked better. The planting of the Southeast Wildflower Mix has givin visual beauty and purpose to areas along roadsides and underneath powerlines. Wildlife such as bees and butterflies appeared the first year of growth. We plan on planting even more this Fall planting season adding the All Annual Wildflower Mix.

Comments about American Meadows Southeast Wildflower Seed Mix:

This is my second attempt to use this product in as many as 5 different locations over 55 acres. Two years ago I attempted to grow these flowers with very poor results in small sections scattered around my two properties. It simply produced no blooms just weeds. This year I doubled down and bought 25 pounds of seed to cover a 1-acre, steep bank leading to the lake. I burned and then tilled the bank for 3 days (not an easy task on slope). I seeded and watered per instructions. I have watered when needed, but generally we have had great rain this season, my yard and beds have never looked better. However, 75 days after planting the wildflower, once again I have very little color. So far I've invested over $600 in seed, at least 2 weeks of labor, and the results are very disappointing. I'm not sure where the issue is, but it is not for lack of effort.

It is now mid summer and my bank is nothing but an overgrown mess with blooms coving less than 1% of the planted area. It clearly requires more than simply tilling, planting and watering to make these seeds grow. Buyer beware.
