Description

Actually native to Italy, the famous garden Sweet Pea is usually considered a garden flower. We carry it due to popular demand – many wildflower gardeners have asked for it, to add brilliant color to their annual wildflower seed plantings. This flower is also frequently planted strictly to cut – it’s wonderful fragrance and beautiful blooms are perfect for bringing inside to enjoy.

Kids love this flower, and often plant it in "their own" gardens. Sweet Pea’s quick and fragrant blooms excite them and make it a great flower for their first garden.

Comments about American Meadows Sweet Pea Seeds:

Pretty poor germination, even after being soaked in water overnight. For those few that germinated, very poor flowering as well. Very disappointed.

Comments about American Meadows Sweet Pea Seeds:

These seeds, need to be at least soaked for 48 hrs, or lightly chipped to aid germination. They do best in a soil that has been double dug [2spits deep] and a lot of paper, rags, sawdust etc added to bottom spit and then covered.Manure is then added and finally cvovered with top soil. I remember my dad even cutting up an old bicycle frame, burying it and then throwing tin cans down there as well. They do best trained up strings or poles. High labour time tying up daily, keeping watered, pinching out and daily harvesting, produces award winning blooms, which smell magnificent. Cut blooms daily for best results. Do these tips and your rewards will be extremely satisfactory.

I don't think I will try sweet peas next year. They never bloomed, a bit disappointed.

Comments about American Meadows Sweet Pea Seeds:

I really wanted these and scattered them profusely in my meadow last Fall/Early Winter. But, nothing came up that I could see. Other flowers did, but I didn't see any sweet pea plants or flowers at all. These are beautiful in the photos and I've heard they smell great. Maybe I'll be brave enough to take another chance on them sometime; I don't know what happened.
