Description
Also called “Toadflax”, this spectacularly beautiful little flower has none of the bad habits of its famous pest relative, “Butter & Eggs”, the yellow/orange perennial weed that is common in the U.S. In fact, Baby Snapdragon is one of the best annuals available for adding delightful jewel-like color to seeded meadows. Bright pink, red, yellow, and purple bi-colored blooms along upright stems make a meadow shimmer with color. Always a favorite with children.

Comments about American Meadows Baby Snapdragon Seeds - 1/4 LB:

I saw warnings from other users that these have a low germination rate so I ordered only a 1/4 pound to give them a try, and indeed the germination rate was extremely low. The few flowers that bloomed were beautiful, however. Despite having purchased two other annual varieties from American Meadows with a low to non-existant bloom rate this season, I'll continue to be a loyal customer because I've had great success with most varieties I've ordered from them, and I realize that many unseen factors affect germination. Perhaps these are especially sensitive to acidity: I had several trees removed around where I planted them, and residual wood shavings were probably mixed up with the soil.

I have grown these for years successfully until this last batch. Don't know if it was the seed viability or the soil and weather conditions, but only got about 20 % germination this year :(
Am not giving up, and have already ordered more.

Comments about American Meadows Baby Snapdragon Seeds - 1/4 LB:

I seeded these all over the place- back bed, front bed, side yard, and only a few, mostly in the front bed, have dug in and taken hold. I seeded heavily around a set of stepping stones, wanting to feel like I was wading through them, but only a few sparse seeds took.
Oh, and there's one random rebel that somehow dug in with the nasturtiums and jewel poppy mix and is going strong- a single pink baby snap amidst the fire-colors!
The ones that have sprouted and stuck, however, are my favorite flowers in the garden!

I'm using it to fill in areas of the garden that have a gap in the bloom season so I have color there all season.

While the instructions do say this flower does not readily reseed itself, that has not been my experience. These little guys seem to get thicker and more colorful each year throughout the area I originally planted them. Terrific color and very low-maintenance flowers.

I sprinkled part the 1/4 lb of toadflax into a bed with ranunculus and bearded iris and it is the prettiest bed in my yard right now. I also spread it liberally around other beds and any areas in the yard that get supplemental watering for other plants (living in the desert SW that is most plants) and have this gay little flower popping up everywhere. It is cheerful and people coming into the garden all want to know what it is. Comes in such an array of colors too!
