Comments about American Meadows California Central Valley Wildflower Seed Mix:

So many wonderful comments from neighbors! I planted entire bag in front of fence to fill in while native sages take hold. It was a color riot with very little water. If weren't for drought, I wouldn't have had to water at all.

Comments about American Meadows California Central Valley Wildflower Seed Mix:

I bought the following packages of seeds for my Monarch Waystation:

Pacific Northwest Wildflower Seed Mix - 1/4 LB
California Central Valley Wildflower Seed Mix - 1/4 LB
Butterfly & Hummingbird Wildflower Seed Mix - 1/2 LB

Either one or all of these were full of Persicaria maculosa which is an awful weed that has taken over my waystation. It spreads like crazy and is choking out all of my existing plants. I pull out hundreds every time I go out to the wildflower garden but it spreads back in just a day or 2. I will have to wait for the growing season to be over and try to roundup it all. Sad that all these years of established plants will need to be re-planted.

Comments about American Meadows California Central Valley Wildflower Seed Mix:

Following the directions I applied seed to cleared hillside in fall and compressed into soil. Well, we received a heavy rain and when spring came the flowers bloomed not on the hillside but in the gravel roadway. It is very sad to have to drive over the pretty flowers.

Comments about American Meadows California Central Valley Wildflower Seed Mix:

I did very little. Not much more than scattering the seeds around our property -- over our natural grassland. The flowers came at the same time other wildflowers were blooming on the hills around us. We had our own personal wildflower display. I'll certainly buy more this year and trust that seeds from the first batch will continue to produce.

Comments about American Meadows California Central Valley Wildflower Seed Mix:

...offers a wildflower mix specificially for our unique growing environment. With a late planting date ("when the snow leaves White Mountain") and cool nights/high winds into the summer, growing here in Round Valley can be quite the challenge. This mixture is specially chosen to grow well here and American Meadows chose well. Here on the side of Mt. Tom, my wildflower garden attracts butterflies, hummingbirds, bees... and neighbors!

                      Service and delivery comments:

Product was delivered very quickly, in great condition, and with extra "gift" seed packets.

                      USDA Hardiness Planting Zones

To determine if a plant is sufficiently cold hardy, the USDA created numbered zones indicating winter low temperatures; the lower the zone number the colder the winter.

                      • If the coldest winter temperature expected in your area is -15°F (zone 5) then any plants rated zones 3-5 will survive the winter temperatures in your area.
                      • If you live in very warm winter areas (zones 9-11) plants with zones 3-4 ratings are not recommended. The lack of freezing winter temperatures do not provide a time for winter dormancy (rest).
