Description
Named for Capt. Clark of Lewis & Clark, the clarkias are some of our most beautiful natives. This is the large-flowered single clarkia usually called “godetia” in the seed trade, and also nicknamed “Farewell-to-Spring.” The brilliant color of this wildflower makes it one of the showiest of all in meadows. For a double-flowered related species, see C. unguiculata.

Comments about American Meadows Godetia Seeds (Clarkia amoena) - 1/4 LB:

There were about a bazillion seeds in the 1/4 lb of seeds so I gifted my neighbors and they to have had spectacular results. The Godetias germinate quickly and since I have a number of bulb beds that need summer color I treasure their cheery reds and pinks. Godetias don't seem to need much to thrive. I do fertilize them with a soluble fertilizer a couple of times per season and that really pumps them up.
A few plants self-seed and some over-winter and they are the first blooms.
I have them in beds and containers where they perform beautifully and require only minimal water.

Comments about American Meadows Godetia Seeds (Clarkia amoena) - 1/4 LB:

I had done an extensive burn of brush in an area that needed some cheerful display of springtime flowers. The Godetia was a great choice; germination was outstanding and the result was lovely. I would not hesitate to recommend American Meadows; in fact I will be ordering more seeds this fall for the expectation of joy seeing beauty.

Comments about American Meadows Godetia Seeds (Clarkia amoena) - 1/4 LB:

Spectacular display! This is the second year that I've planted these seeds in lean clay soil in full to part sun. I broadcast them, stomp them into the ground, cover them very lightly with mulch to confuse the birds, and water once a week. They have a good germination rate, and if you water them 1x a week during the summer, they'll bloom for months. The hot pink color and variation in the individual blooms make for a great, cheerful display. The neighbors look forward to seeing them each year.
