Texas (along with Oklahoma) is what botanists call its own "Floristic Region." That's why the area is famous for its wildflowers, and why many famous flowers in the Texas region are different from other areas in North America. This mixture is custom made for the unique flora of the region, featuring all the favorites: Texas Bluebonnet, Wild Drummond Phlox, Showy Evening Primrose (Lady Bird Johnson's Favorite), and many more.

Comments about American Meadows Texas and Oklahoma Wildflower Seed Mix:

Bought a packet of these last spring, sprinkled them on the ground, watered, and watched them grow. The Scarlet Sage was stunning in the fall and this spring we've gotten tons of vivid colors from the Coreopsis, Verbena, and Indian Blankets. I did mix this Texas/OK packet with another one for our region, however, I think almost all of the flowers came from this packet. My flowers are in full sun. I rarely water and only if the ground really dries out. Very happy with my purchase!

Gave this to a friend for his birthday. He scattered the seeds this past year and he just told me he has a meadow of color now in full bloom. Very happy that he is enjoying the beauty of wildflowers.

Comments about American Meadows Texas and Oklahoma Wildflower Seed Mix:

Very good product. Make sure you read the direction, these seeds cover a large area and get very crowded if you spread in too small of an area.

              USDA Hardiness Planting Zones

To determine if a plant is sufficiently cold hardy, the USDA created numbered zones indicating winter low temperatures; the lower the zone number the colder the winter.

              • If the coldest winter temperature expected in your area is -15°F (zone 5) then any plants rated zones 3-5 will survive the winter temperatures in your area.
              • If you live in very warm winter areas (zones 9-11) plants with zones 3-4 ratings are not recommended. The lack of freezing winter temperatures do not provide a time for winter dormancy (rest).
