Description
Everyone loves columbines, and this is the wild one gardeners love most. Also known as American Columbine, this beauty is native from Canada to Florida all the way west to Texas and the Dakotas.

The flowers are showy, nodding bells of a bright strawberry red with lots of yellow stamens. The foliage is fernlike, like all columbines, and this plant forms neat, short (1 to 2 ft.) clumps that are both tough and durable yet extremely delicate in appearance. The flowers bloom in "late spring," and always attract hummingbirds.

While considered a woodland wildflower, wild columbine often occurs in the wild on open rocky slopes in full baking sun.

Comments about American Meadows Eastern Red Columbine Seeds:

I bought some packs of seeds last year and none of them grew. I just threw the seeds everywhere in the fall. I got some this year and made mini greenshouse with a mild carton and regular potting soil and got results. I still have a whole pack and 90% of a second pack. These really like to have shade in the afternoon.

Comments about American Meadows Eastern Red Columbine Seeds:

I started these plants for my sisters yard. The seeds sprouted quickly and the plants were very robust looking. I can't wait until next year for their first blooming.

Comments about American Meadows Eastern Red Columbine Seeds:

Got the seeds and tossed out onto to a patch I cleared. Unfortunately, I did not do a good job of tilling because a lot of stuff grew. I think I have to next spring to see if anything grows.
