Blooming in a sweet shade of lilac pink, low-growing ‘Blue Eddy’ Allium is known for its unusual, wave-like swirl of thin, gray-green foliage. Like other alliums, this rare addition is deer resistant and nectar rich, making it perfect for veggie patch borders and pollinator gardens. Long blooming and drought tolerant. (Allium senescens)
To determine if a plant is sufficiently cold hardy, the USDA created numbered zones indicating winter low
temperatures; the lower the zone number the colder the winter.
If the coldest winter temperature expected in your area is -15°F (zone 5) then any plants rated zones 3-5 will
survive the winter temperatures in your area.
If you live in very warm winter areas (zones 9-11) plants with zones 3-4 ratings are not recommended. The lack
of freezing winter temperatures do not provide a time for winter dormancy (rest).
6–12” tall x 6-12” wide. ‘Blue Eddy’ is one of the most intriguing alliums to come along in years! A low-growing variety, this ornamental onion is known for its tightly-whorled, grass-like foliage that appears on the grayish-blue side of green. Arriving as a potted plant, this perennial allium can be added to the garden throughout the season, unlike the tightly-followed tradition of fall-planting allium bulbs. Blooming in late summer and into fall, ‘Blue Eddy’ has attractive golf-ball sized, pink-purple flowers.
