Bradbury’s Monarda is a versatile, compact prairie plant, making it the perfect choice for almost any garden or meadow. This easy-to-grow native wildflower tolerates both sun and shade and average soil. To determine if a plant is sufficiently cold hardy, the USDA created numbered zones indicating winter low
temperatures; the lower the zone number the colder the winter.
If the coldest winter temperature expected in your area is -15°F (zone 5) then any plants rated zones 3-5 will
survive the winter temperatures in your area.
If you live in very warm winter areas (zones 9-11) plants with zones 3-4 ratings are not recommended. The lack
of freezing winter temperatures do not provide a time for winter dormancy (rest).
Bradbury’s Monarda, or Monarda braduriana, grows to only 12-18” tall and is the perfect way to help the pollinator population in your small or large garden. Like all Bee Balm, it is a pollinator magnet and will attract a wide variety of pollinators to your backyard. This perennial will multiply each year, eventually creating a carpet of light pink blooms in the mid-season garden. The foliage remains green throughout the season, offering texture and color into the late fall.
Low maintenance and easy to grow, Bradbury’s Monarda grows in full sun to partial shade and tolerates almost any garden soil.
