The flower spikes are also big favorites for drying. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe roots are bulb-like, and you can start these flowers with seeds (from our Wildflower Seed Department) or perennial roots.  Of course, developed roots are faster; Liatris takes two years to bloom from seed.
