Potted Dahlias
Each entrance to the country club where she got married welcomed guests with a colorful mix of Dahlias, Zinnias, Sunflowers and fall decorations. Pots of blooming Dahlias were scattered throughout the space, bringing the outdoors in and adding showy elegance to the reception area.
DIY Fall Wedding Favors
The fall-themed place settings for the wedding were topped off with our “Forget-Us-Not” packets and a small pot of local honey as favors.
These adorable favors were also practical; giving guests something they can eat right away (the honey) and something to plant this fall (the seeds). Each packet had a label on it that read, “Watch our love grow. Amy & Tom September 24, 2016.”
The Colorful Bouquets
Once I finished walking through the reception area, taking in all of the charming little touches here and there, they brought out the hand-made bouquets and boutonnieres.
An elegant mix of Dahlias, Zinnias, Sunflowers, the pink, orange and yellow bouquets were almost too perfect to touch. The boutonnieres were simple but striking – I’m sure they popped against the men’s suits.
It was fun being able to observe the process from middle to end. It was amazing to walk through Amy’s gardens a few weeks ago and see her point out the perfect-looking blooms she was eyeing to cut for the wedding, then see everything come together on the big day.
It was a big undertaking – growing her own flowers for her DIY fall wedding – but Amy undoubtedly succeeded and the floral touches added elegant, bright color to the celebration.
