    • With Orange Monarch wild crocus

Comments about American Meadows Dutch Crocus Bulbs Pickwick:

Really stunningly beautiful and reliable. In our garden, blooms just as the wild snow crocus are finishing up. The Orange monarch snow crocus are the last to bloom here, so pickwick and orange monarch are on show at the same time and in my opinion look incredible together (the yellow-orange-gold of the Orange monarchs complements the stamens of the pickwick). I would regale you with photos, but this platform doesn't allow images from my mobile.
To me, the pinstripes remind me of clothing from times gone by, of general dry goods stores and telegraphs and "iron horses." So I find them very old fashioned and dapper. :)
Naughty squirrels sometimes chew spring bulb blooms for sport, so if you have a lot of tree or ground squirrels you may want to take protective or deterrent measures.
The foliage that remains for months after the blooms is also attractive, like a gracefully arching, small mounding sedge grouping when planted en masse. Then in the summer heat it browns, crisps up and dissipates (at least in our high desert dryness), leaving no trace of where they were. So take a photo if you think that you might forget their location! ;)
These are my favorite of the large Dutch crocus.

Comments about American Meadows Dutch Crocus Bulbs Pickwick:

You need a lot of them to make them look good. They are the early bloomers, the ones I wait for at the end of winter. They are great with white ones. Only issue is when you have a hot day, they are done immediately.

I planted these along the edges & around shrubs & perenerials. They were the first to come up after a below zero month of temperature. A beautiful sight to see. Big blooms that lasted.

Comments about American Meadows Dutch Crocus Bulbs Pickwick:

I bought these totally on impulse because they were on sale. Can't resist a sale, can I? With no plan, I then had no idea where to plant them. I just stuck them in around my front border here and there, gathered in groups of three or four. Why, oh, why didn't I buy more?! I love love love these little guys! The purple stripes on the shimmery white are so pretty. What a way to welcome spring! I haven't actually counted to be sure they all came up, but they seem to be everywhere.

These looked hardy when I got them; but none of them came up. Maybe it was too cold in Chicago.

                        Q & A

                        Plant With These:

                        USDA Hardiness Planting Zones

To determine if a plant is sufficiently cold hardy, the USDA created numbered zones indicating winter low temperatures; the lower the zone number the colder the winter.

                        • If the coldest winter temperature expected in your area is -15°F (zone 5) then any plants rated zones 3-5 will survive the winter temperatures in your area.
                        • If you live in very warm winter areas (zones 9-11) plants with zones 3-4 ratings are not recommended. The lack of freezing winter temperatures do not provide a time for winter dormancy (rest).
