Dwarf Red Plains Coreopsis is a versatile native wildflower that attracts bees and butterflies. Clusters of perky red flowers bloom continually from spring through summer, held on delicate upright stems with fine foliage that fills out gracefully. At just a foot tall, it can be planted in the front of garden borders and is a great choice for low-growing meadows and wildflower lawns. It grows in a wide range of soil conditions, and also makes a cheerful cut flower. All of the seed we carry at American Meadows is non-GMO, neonicotinoid-free and guaranteed to grow. Annual. (Coreopsis tinctoria)
To determine if a plant is sufficiently cold hardy, the USDA created numbered zones indicating winter low
temperatures; the lower the zone number the colder the winter.
If the coldest winter temperature expected in your area is -15°F (zone 5) then any plants rated zones 3-5 will
survive the winter temperatures in your area.
If you live in very warm winter areas (zones 9-11) plants with zones 3-4 ratings are not recommended. The lack
of freezing winter temperatures do not provide a time for winter dormancy (rest).
Dwarf Coreopsis Seeds Red Plains are a wonderful
easy-to-grow annual wildflower for any garden or meadow. Bright red flowers
make an excellent accent to other rich flower colors. Extremely showy flowers
starting to bloom in spring and continue through summer. Deadhead spent flowers
to encourage more flowering. Dwarf Plains Coreopsis have a wide native range
across the United States, and this flower does best in drier climates,
requiring only average watering. Red Plains Coreopsis is a great choice for
rock gardens, low-maintenance wildflower meadows, and sidewalk gardens. For
best results, direct sow seeds outdoors.
