(24-36" tall x 12-24" wide) ‘American Dawn’ Dahlia arrives in mid-summer with flowers of vibrant pink petals around a center of simply sensational violet-plum petals. These unusual Dahlias have the wow factor in spades. A knockout that will be the talk of the garden. Grow Dahlias in a sunny spot, in average soil that drains well. Keep moisture consistent once it begins to grow and enjoy a non-stop color parade. A nice addition to a patio or deck, it is a lovely container plant. Attractive to hummingbirds and butterflies, plant tubers in groups of threes for best effect. Deadhead spent blooms to encourage more flowers and pinch off small side buds to encourage larger flowers if desired. This easy-to-grow Dahlia is perennial in zones 8-10. In cooler zones, they may be dug and stored in a cool, dark place after the first frost, then re-planted the following spring.
