'Pink Cloud' Caladium is a foliage accent with incredible punch, combining three classic colors to create a mound of heart-shaped leaves that responds to the heat of summer with vigorous energy. The large pink leaves display a strong white central vein with green edges and generous rosy splotches that pair beautifully with summer flowers. This fancy leaf cultivar is ideal for adding a burst of color, particularly in containers.
To determine if a plant is sufficiently cold hardy, the USDA created numbered zones indicating winter low
temperatures; the lower the zone number the colder the winter.
If the coldest winter temperature expected in your area is -15°F (zone 5) then any plants rated zones 3-5 will
survive the winter temperatures in your area.
If you live in very warm winter areas (zones 9-11) plants with zones 3-4 ratings are not recommended. The lack
of freezing winter temperatures do not provide a time for winter dormancy (rest).
Create a bridge between pink and green shades in the summer garden with 'Pink Cloud' Caladium, a fancy leaf cultivar for shade with some sun tolerance. 'Pink Cloud' is well-suited to shady beds and containers in large groups or on its own, but can tolerate some sun as long as it is sheltered from strong afternoon rays. Caladiums are ideal for pots, baskets, and patio containers, where their fast-growing foliage makes a statement; they can also be used as groundcovers in the warmest climates. Caladiums are heat lovers and strong growth will occur as heat builds. Plant bulbs 1-2 inches under fertile, moist soil after soil has warmed and well past the chance of frost.
Caladiums are perennial in zones 9-10; in cooler zones, you can lift and store the bulbs in a cool, dry location for the winter, then re-plant them in spring. Harmful if ingested.
