It’s the saturated, silky color that you notice first in Havana® Calla Lily. Sumptuous and seductive, the fluted blooms are deep orange suffused with a golden yellow glow. A must-have for the sunny summer garden, flowers emerge through spotted, glossy foliage. Long-lasting blooms continue for 6-8 weeks, adding romance and luxury to summer plantings. Good for sunny, moist sites, Callas are deer resistant and a great choice for containers and cut flowers. (Zantedeschia)

USDA Hardiness Planting Zones

To determine if a plant is sufficiently cold hardy, the USDA created numbered zones indicating winter low temperatures; the lower the zone number the colder the winter.

  • If the coldest winter temperature expected in your area is -15°F (zone 5) then any plants rated zones 3-5 will survive the winter temperatures in your area.
  • If you live in very warm winter areas (zones 9-11) plants with zones 3-4 ratings are not recommended. The lack of freezing winter temperatures do not provide a time for winter dormancy (rest).

Plant Information

Havana® Calla Lily’s silky golden fluted flowers rise from flecked deep green foliage. Plant Callas in sunny sites with moist soil. Callas are particularly suited to containers, where attractive foliage and an abundance of softly fluted flowers can be enjoyed close-up on a sunny deck, patio, or balcony. Calla Lilies prefer full sun, but can benefit from some shade or protection from intense afternoon sun, which can burn the foliage. Callas are perennial in zones 8-10; in cooler zones, you can lift and store the bulbs in a cool, dry location for the winter, then re-plant them in spring. In hot climates, the plant will die back and go dormant after flowering.

Not recommended for California, where Calla Lilies are considered invasive.
