Plant Information

40" tall x 24" wide. Larger than almost any other dahlia variety on the market, the blooms of 'Emory Paul' are like giant garden lollipops, commanding the attention of every passerby. The round, ruffled blooms stand tall above deep green foliage, but their heft means staking is required to keep the massive blooms unspoiled and upright. As stunning in a vase as it is in the garden, the flowers of 'Emory Paul' can be enjoyed year after year by digging and storing the tender tubers in a box of peat moss for the winter. To encourage this beauty to perform to the max, plant it in a sunny spot in well-drained soil. And don't forget to keep the plant properly irrigated during dry spells to encourage maximum bloom production. Deer and pest resistant.

Q & A

Plant With These:

USDA Hardiness Planting Zones

To determine if a plant is sufficiently cold hardy, the USDA created numbered zones indicating winter low temperatures; the lower the zone number the colder the winter.

  • If the coldest winter temperature expected in your area is -15°F (zone 5) then any plants rated zones 3-5 will survive the winter temperatures in your area.
  • If you live in very warm winter areas (zones 9-11) plants with zones 3-4 ratings are not recommended. The lack of freezing winter temperatures do not provide a time for winter dormancy (rest).
