Dark and moody blooms meet pearls and lace in the Formal Affair Bearded Iris Collection. This stylish collection is a study in contrasts, with the pure-white petals of 'Immortality' pairing up with the pitch-black blooms of 'Here Comes the Night.' The color pattern is repeated in 'Starring', an enchanting bi-color blossom with perfect form and mesmerizing golden accents. Graceful 'Raven Girl' adds a touch of purple in her ruffled standard petals against the mystery of her black falls. Raise a toast to all this glitz and glamour with the enchanting 'Champagne Elegance', whose blushing apricot petals hint at the sweet orange blossom fragrance hiding within. 'Immortality' and 'Champagne Elegance' re-bloom in late summer to early fall. Plant these darlings in full sun and a well-drained soil. Set rhizomes (the irregularly shaped bulbous roots) parallel to the soil surface and just deep enough that the tops of the rhizome are exposed above the soil line. Plants produce sturdy blue-green foliage and are resistant to deer and rabbit browsing. Irises make lovely, long-lasting cut flowers.
The Formal Affair Bearded Iris Collection includes 5 or 15 bulbs (rhizomes) total, featuring one or three of each:
