Everyone loves the fragrance and colorful show that Freesia brings to the garden in late spring. The Freesia Double Mix bulbs should be planted in early spring, in full sun. They will come up and bloom about 100-120 days after planting and will last for about 4 weeks. Comments about American Meadows Double Freesia Mix:

The original order arrived dried out and only about 5 of the original 25 were viable; when I complained the customer service VERY kindly offered a full replacement. So I gave it another go; same darned thing--a few, carefully kept in pots, not over or underwatered...brought in when the temps started to dip--and still only a few spears appeared, and ZERO blooms.

Comments about American Meadows Double Freesia Mix:

I've planted them in previous years and had great success, but even the older ones didn't do well this year...I don't know why.
I like the flowers. they are very attractive when they bloom.
It was a bad year for them.
I'm not sure that I would recommend them to anyone yet...Let's see what the coming year brings.
People stop and take pictures of my flowers every year....
I get lots of great comments on them...except this year.
        Nothing did well for me.

        Awesome beautiful smell

Comments about American Meadows Double Freesia Mix:

I planted my Freesia bulbs last year, spring and all the bulbs bloomed this year. One stem of flowers fills my front room with wonderful fragrance. This smell is compatible to Peonies and I just love them, wish they would bloom year round.

Comments about American Meadows Double Freesia Mix:

Freesia do very well in San Diego's climate, so I purchased these bulbs to add to the ones I already have in my garden. Some were planted in pots, some in the ground. Only three out of twenty five produced green leaves, the rest just dried up and died. Not one flower was ever produced. None of my other garden plants have died, as they are cared for by a professional gardener and are watered regularly by my sprinkler system. I would be willing to try again if my order were replaced at no cost. I cannot help but believe your plants are better than this, even though this is my first order with American Meadows.

          Q & A

          Plant With These:

          USDA Hardiness Planting Zones

To determine if a plant is sufficiently cold hardy, the USDA created numbered zones indicating winter low temperatures; the lower the zone number the colder the winter.

          • If the coldest winter temperature expected in your area is -15°F (zone 5) then any plants rated zones 3-5 will survive the winter temperatures in your area.
          • If you live in very warm winter areas (zones 9-11) plants with zones 3-4 ratings are not recommended. The lack of freezing winter temperatures do not provide a time for winter dormancy (rest).
