To determine if a plant is sufficiently cold hardy, the USDA created numbered zones indicating winter low
temperatures; the lower the zone number the colder the winter.
If the coldest winter temperature expected in your area is -15°F (zone 5) then any plants rated zones 3-5 will
survive the winter temperatures in your area.
If you live in very warm winter areas (zones 9-11) plants with zones 3-4 ratings are not recommended. The lack
of freezing winter temperatures do not provide a time for winter dormancy (rest).

enjoy the fragrance! Its versatility makes it perfect for containers, beds, and
flower borders. Lance-like foliage and thick stems provide a sturdy
architecture often applied in formal designs, yet these flowers also look at
home tucked among roses, perennials, and groundcovers in less formal settings.
You can also force bulbs indoors for off-season blooms. Plant hyacinth in full
sun to partial shade in loose, well-drained soil. Plants require adequate
drainage to prevent bulbs from rotting during the dormant season. Allow the
foliage to mature and die down naturally after blooming to nourishes bulbs for
next season's blooms. Hyacinth is hardy in zones 4 to 8. We recommend wearing
gloves when handling hyacinth bulbs as they can irritate the skin.
