Award-winning 'Gipsy Queen' Hyacinth reigns the spring garden with soft coral-pink blooms and delightful fragrance. Flowers arise above lance-like foliage in mid-spring and last for weeks. An heirloom known for its rich perfume, 'Gipsy Queen" is perfect for containers, window boxes, and even forcing indoors. Add this beauty to your pollinator garden to feed the bees and gather handfuls to fill your vases. (Hyacinthus orientalis)
To determine if a plant is sufficiently cold hardy, the USDA created numbered zones indicating winter low
temperatures; the lower the zone number the colder the winter.
If the coldest winter temperature expected in your area is -15°F (zone 5) then any plants rated zones 3-5 will
survive the winter temperatures in your area.
If you live in very warm winter areas (zones 9-11) plants with zones 3-4 ratings are not recommended. The lack
of freezing winter temperatures do not provide a time for winter dormancy (rest).
(10-12" tall) With vivid color and enormous blooms, 'Gipsy Queen' Hyacinth is a knockout, with a peachy color that's unusual for hyacinths. Don't just take our word for it - this cultivar received an Award of Garden Merit from the Royal Horticulture Society. Tuck groups of bulbs in borders, containers, rock gardens, or mixed planting beds in autumn for some warm tropical-inspired color come spring. A surprisingly versatile flower, hyacinth looks at home in formal garden settings or scattered casually among perennials and groundcovers. Thick, upright leaf blades add bold texture and compliment the full flower clusters. Hyacinth resist browsing by deer and rabbits. Hardy in zones 4 to 8, plants are easy to grow in full to partial sun. Provide a loamy soil with adequate drainage. Allow foliage to die down naturally after blooms, so the bulb can store nutrients for future growth and blooms. We recommend wearing gloves when handling hyacinth bulbs, as they can irritate the skin.
