The Deer Resistant Beauties Bulb Collection pairs two stunning Dutch Iris varieties for an elegant early summer performance. With light blue standards (upper petals) and yellow falls (lower petals), the exquisite 'Oriental Beauty' provides a gentle compliment to the vibrant blue-violet flowers of 'Sapphire Beauty'. While deer avoid Irises, those lovely lower petals serve as a landing pad for bees. Collection of 35 bulbs. (Iris hollandica)

USDA Hardiness Planting Zones

To determine if a plant is sufficiently cold hardy, the USDA created numbered zones indicating winter low temperatures; the lower the zone number the colder the winter.

  • If the coldest winter temperature expected in your area is -15°F (zone 5) then any plants rated zones 3-5 will survive the winter temperatures in your area.
  • If you live in very warm winter areas (zones 9-11) plants with zones 3-4 ratings are not recommended. The lack of freezing winter temperatures do not provide a time for winter dormancy (rest).

Plant Information

The Deer Resistant Beauties Bulb Collection combines two florist favorites for a planting that serves double duty, adorning gardens and vases. Each variety is remarkable on its own, yet they harmonize well. The falls of 'Sapphire Beauty' are marked with a bright yellow flame that echoes the golden yellow falls of 'Oriental Beauty', while the blue tones share tints and shades of a single hue. Tuck these beauties among perennials in sunny borders and beds for fuss-free color. Plants are hardy in zones 5 to 10 and establish best in locations where soil is warm and dry during the summer months when plants go dormant. In locations with wet summers, bulbs can be dug and stored after the foliage begins to die back. Store in a cool, dark place and replant in fall when you plant tulips and other bulbs. Provide adequate moisture during the blooming season.

Deer Resistant Beauties Bulb Collection will fill roughly 3 sq ft if planted together and contains 35 plants:

'Sapphire Beauty' Dutch Iris - 20 Bulbs

'Oriental Beauty' Dutch Iris - 15 Bulbs

*Plants are subject to change due to availability. If we make substitutions, we feature plants with similar attributes suitable to the garden/collection design.
