USDA Hardiness Planting Zones

To determine if a plant is sufficiently cold hardy, the USDA created numbered zones indicating winter low temperatures; the lower the zone number the colder the winter.

  • If the coldest winter temperature expected in your area is -15°F (zone 5) then any plants rated zones 3-5 will survive the winter temperatures in your area.
  • If you live in very warm winter areas (zones 9-11) plants with zones 3-4 ratings are not recommended. The lack of freezing winter temperatures do not provide a time for winter dormancy (rest).

Plant Information

The Vintage Bouquet Collection for late summer flower arrangements combines the ruffled petals of ‘Black Beauty’ Gladiolus and ‘The Pearl’ Double Tuberose against the smooth cups of White Florist Calla Lily for endless romance and rich textural contrast. Bold Dahlias dance like ballerinas, twirling their petal-brimmed skirts for added energy. Soft undertones of pink in ‘Cafe Au Lait’ Dahlia and ‘The Pearl’ echo the deeper maroon hues of ‘Black Beauty’, while vibrant ‘Golden Scepter’ Pompon Dahlia and ‘Mango’ Calla lily offer a diversity of hues for flower arrangements. With a range of heights, this cut flower collection packs big impact into small spaces. Gardeners in cold regions will want to dig the bulbs up at the end of the season and store them for the winter. Set bulbs in spring after the threat of frost. Bulbs benefit from well-drained soil.

Our Vintage Bouquet Collection is roughly 3' x 4.5' if planted together and contains 26 plants:

1. 'Black Beauty' Gladiolus - 15 plants

2. 'White Florist' Calla Lily (Zantedeschia) - 1 plant

3. 'Cafe Au Lait' Dinner Plate Dahlia - 3 plants

4. 'Mango' Calla Lilly (Zantedeschia) - 1 plant

5. 'The Pearl' Double Tuberosa (Polianthes) - 3 plants

6. 'Golden Scepter' Pompon Dahlia - 3 plants

*Not all plants will be in bloom at the same time, as depicted on the illustration. Plants are subject to change due to availability. If we make substitutions, we feature plants with similar attributes suitable to the garden/collection design.
