3 favorite species! 8-10 different colors
Everybody loves poppies. And no wonder-no other flower is so easy to grow and gives a gardener such lavish beauty. This new-idea mixture is a combination of three all-time favorites that will make your poppy garden a sight to behold:
Red Poppy, Papaver rhoeas. Also called ~Shirley Poppy~ this is probably the world's most popular wildflower-the bright red poppy of Flanders' Fields, which is also the symbol of the American Legion. In your mix, you'll have pure reds, pinks, snow whites, and even glamorous bicolors and double-petaled forms.
California Poppy, Eschscholzia californica. The state flower of the Golden State, but a favorite everywhere, this beauty carpets whole hillsides on the West Coast. Flowers are a rich gold to full orange.
Iceland Poppy, Papaver nudicale. The shimmering beauty from the northland grows well all over the US and gives you large, papery blooms in yellow, salmon and orange tones, plus creamy white.
How to Plant your Poppy Garden: Plant in spring after frosts, during summer, or in late fall after growing season ends. Choose an area with full sun, remove all existing growth, and till or loosen the soil. Scatter seed evenly, and compress in to bare earth. Do not cover-seed is so small you may bury it too deep. Keep seedbed moist until plants are 8-10" tall. Bloom should begin within 4-5 weeks after sprouting. All three species reseed, but you may gather seed from fading flowers for next year's blooms. (California poppy and Iceland poppy are perennial in warm areas.)

Comments about American Meadows Instant Garden of Multicolored Poppies Jumbo Packet:
I sowed these along with several other poppy varieties from AM in pots and transferred them to the ground after they germinated. Good germination rate, but I cant be sure which varieties germinated because the seedlings are still tiny.
Comments about American Meadows Instant Garden of Multicolored Poppies Jumbo Packet:
Good germination, large packets, and a very good way to cover large areas in a garden.
They have not bloomed yet - too early, but the seedlings are numerous and healthy looking.
