More Information

Pollinating insects are vital to a healthy and productive garden. Our Pollinator Garden Kit is perfect for gardeners who grow flowers, fruit and/or vegetables, many of which depend on pollinators. The kit includes 1/4 lb. of our exclusive Honey Bee Wildflower Seed Mix and a handmade wooden Mason Bee House.

The seed mix contains eight colorful, long-blooming wildflowers species that are irresistible to bees - six annual species for first-year color, plus two perennials for second and successive years' bloom. The 1/4 lb of seed is enough to plant 500 to 1000 sq. ft. and can be stored for use over several seasons. Although honey bees are well known for their benefit to food crops, the small, native, non-aggressive mason bee is also a very effective pollinator. The Mason Bee House provides a nesting place for them. It's handmade in Washington State from cedar that was reclaimed from old barns and other structures; you may see nail holes and other marks that hint at its former use. It's about 9" high with the smooth, 5/16" holes preferred by mason bees.

Comments about American Meadows Pollinator Garden Kit:

We were so excited to plant the Honey Bee Wildflower Seed mix that came with this kit, and they grew beautifully! We were a little afraid that they wouldn't grow because we are beginners, but they grew despite the fact that we are novice gardeners. The flowers also attract butterflies and hummingbirds. The handmade box is gorgeous, and we love that it is made from reclaimed wood, which is environmentally friendly and adds character to the box. The bees love it, and they are not aggressive at all, just like the product description says. If you want to attract pollinators and provide a home for bees, this is the kit for you!

Comments about American Meadows Pollinator Garden Kit:

I got this and was excited to use it to maybe incourage Bee's to come and live so they could help pollinate our fruit trees. In Hawaii we've been having Bee colonies just colapse, and this is causing losses in production of many of our fruit that need pollinating from Bee's. We sell our many fruit on our property, so Bee's are essential to production and profit.
Well, this did nothing but attract a huge Ant colony. They are sugar ants and they have established a large family in this so called Bee box. We've washed it with some none taxic soap because ant's leave saliva to incourage other ant's to come by an live. We've watched it to see if a Bee would even land on it, but nothing.
This was disapointing for us here, because we had high hopes for trying to see if it might help. Maybe someone else will have much better luck then we had.
Thank you anyway and God Bless
Sorry for the unsatisfied review, but the flowers were beautiful. :)

    Q & A

    Plant With These:

    USDA Hardiness Planting Zones

To determine if a plant is sufficiently cold hardy, the USDA created numbered zones indicating winter low temperatures; the lower the zone number the colder the winter.

    • If the coldest winter temperature expected in your area is -15°F (zone 5) then any plants rated zones 3-5 will survive the winter temperatures in your area.
    • If you live in very warm winter areas (zones 9-11) plants with zones 3-4 ratings are not recommended. The lack of freezing winter temperatures do not provide a time for winter dormancy (rest).
