USDA Hardiness Planting Zones
To determine if a plant is sufficiently cold hardy, the USDA created numbered zones indicating winter low
temperatures; the lower the zone number the colder the winter.
If the coldest winter temperature expected in your area is -15°F (zone 5) then any plants rated zones 3-5 will
survive the winter temperatures in your area.
If you live in very warm winter areas (zones 9-11) plants with zones 3-4 ratings are not recommended. The lack
of freezing winter temperatures do not provide a time for winter dormancy (rest).
Our Low-Maintenance Daylily Collection is the perfect choice for growing the showy, colorful blooms that signify peak summer. With long arching foliage, a resilient nature, and charismatic flowers, Daylilies are a great investment for easy gardening. Each stem is packed with flower buds that bloom for one day (hence the name Daylily). Butterflies and hummingbirds are attracted to their warm, sunny colors. Native to China, Japan, and Korea, Hemerocallis grow from rhizomes and are famously hardy and easy to grow, making them a popular perennial around the world. Deer-resistant and rabbit-resistant Daylilies are excellent for mass planting and filling in a low-maintenance garden with color and texture. Happiest in sunny sites with average to poor soil, they will spread over time and can be divided approximately every 3-5 years.
