(18-24” tall x 18” wide) Melody Dora Dahlia is an excellent dahlia cultivar– particularly for containers. Its vigorous, covered with blooms, and will flower from mid-summer through fall. Sporting colors of peach, orange, yellow and violet, it will give you all you need in one pot! Like others in the Melody series, foliage is compact and continuously sends up shiny new flower buds throughout the season, renewing your container displays and providing cut flowers for the house. Grow Melody Dora Dahlia in well-drained, rich soil in a sunny spot. Dahlias enjoy moisture, but the tubers do not appreciate continuously wet feet. Melody Dora Dahlia is a compact cultivar and will not need staking in garden beds. Deadheading of fading blossoms will prolong the display. If growing in a container, tubers are easily brought inside during the winter for zones cooler than 8. Otherwise, gently lift the tubers from garden soil and store in a cool, frost-free location in autumn for replanting next spring.
