(48-60" tall) ‘Black Narcissus’ Cactus Dahlia has great style and substance with burgundy-red flowers that explode like fireworks in the garden, blooming from mid-summer to frost. Standing tall at 4-5 feet, plant ‘Black Narcissus’ in the back of a perennial bed, in a cutting garden, or along a patio where its plentiful flowers can be appreciated. Pinch back side buds to create larger flowers and deadhead regularly to keep flowers coming. Fantastic cut flowers too, they make lovely bouquets. Plant tubers in a sunny spot in average soil with good drainage. Don’t water until the first shoots appear, thereafter water to keep the soil moist. Plant a stake next to your Dahlia planting, as this tall variety will appreciate support as it grows and heavy flowers bloom. This easy-to-grow Dahlia is perennial in zones 8-10. In cooler zones, they may be dug and stored in a cool, dark place after the first frost, then re-planted the following spring.
