USDA Hardiness Planting Zones

To determine if a plant is sufficiently cold hardy, the USDA created numbered zones indicating winter low temperatures; the lower the zone number the colder the winter.

  • If the coldest winter temperature expected in your area is -15°F (zone 5) then any plants rated zones 3-5 will survive the winter temperatures in your area.
  • If you live in very warm winter areas (zones 9-11) plants with zones 3-4 ratings are not recommended. The lack of freezing winter temperatures do not provide a time for winter dormancy (rest).

Plant Information

Ooh-la-la. The Berry Spice Bearded Iris Collection's simmering hues are sure to ignite the garden. Few blooms shine brighter than the vivid orange 'Edgefield Glow' Bearded Iris. Each successive blossom in this combo works to accent the next. The orange hues of 'Edgefield Glow' are echoed in the flaring falls of 'Cheetah Cheese' and showy beards of 'Lightheaded'. Mulberry hues run from blossom to blossom in the ruffled falls of 'Lightheaded' and dreamy skirts of 'Montmartre'. A glass of velvety cabernet finishes this feast for the senses in the plush red petals of 'Raptor Red'. Give these beauties well-drained soil and plenty of sunshine to thrive. Space bulbs (rhizomes) 12 to 24 inches apart when planting to give plants plenty of room to grow and spread. For best results, bury the rhizome shallow enough that the top of the rhizome sits just above the soil surface.

The Berry Spice Bearded Iris Collection includes 5 or 15 bulbs (rhizomes) total, featuring one or three of each:

Edgefield Glow Bearded Iris
Lightheaded Bearded Iris
Raptor Red Bearded Iris
Montmartre Bearded Iris
Cheetah Cheese Bearded Iris
