USDA Hardiness Planting Zones

To determine if a plant is sufficiently cold hardy, the USDA created numbered zones indicating winter low temperatures; the lower the zone number the colder the winter.

  • If the coldest winter temperature expected in your area is -15°F (zone 5) then any plants rated zones 3-5 will survive the winter temperatures in your area.
  • If you live in very warm winter areas (zones 9-11) plants with zones 3-4 ratings are not recommended. The lack of freezing winter temperatures do not provide a time for winter dormancy (rest).

Plant Information

6-12" tall x 12-18” wide. Li'l Bang™ ‘Starlight’ Coreopsis, also known as Tickseed, is an excellent choice for season-long blooms in the front of borders and small gardens. Part of the Li’l Bang series of coreopsis bred for their short, compact stature and large, sterile flowers that bloom from early summer through fall. Coreopsis is drought tolerant once established. This compact mounding coreopsis is perfect for containers, borders, cottage gardens, and rock gardens. Give plants plenty of sun and well-drained soil. Gently shear after the first flush of flowers to keep ‘Starlight’ blooming all season long. ‘Starlight’ is a reliable and well-behaved native selection that resists deer browsing. United States Plant Patent PP#28,005.
