USDA Hardiness Planting Zones

To determine if a plant is sufficiently cold hardy, the USDA created numbered zones indicating winter low temperatures; the lower the zone number the colder the winter.

  • If the coldest winter temperature expected in your area is -15°F (zone 5) then any plants rated zones 3-5 will survive the winter temperatures in your area.
  • If you live in very warm winter areas (zones 9-11) plants with zones 3-4 ratings are not recommended. The lack of freezing winter temperatures do not provide a time for winter dormancy (rest).

Plant Information

You can have it all with the sweet and edgy Enchanted Bearded Iris Collection. Like any great girl group, each flower has a personality of her own! 'Dangerous Mood' is the impressive opening act, featuring two stems with 7-8 buds each, which will bloom into crisp white standards brushed with blue (upright petals), deep velvet blue falls (downward petals), and a dark beard. Next up is 'Anaconda Love,' a petite and stylish beauty with dusty pink standards and red wine falls, powdery white highlights, and a rose gold beard. 'Sugar Blues' sings out with a pared-down bloom, clean bright blue color, and sweet fragrance. Little sister 'Wild Irish Rose' will delight with lots of small rosy-orchid blooms surrounding orange beards. In contrast, jet black 'Raven Girl' is the tallest and most prolific rock star in the collection. 'Raven Girl' features 3 stems with 8-12 buds on each, blooming with dark, luxuriously ruffled petals. Not to be outdone, reblooming 'Sugar Blues' returns for an encore in early fall! Flower heights will range from about 24 inches to 39 inches, with 'Anaconda Love' on the slighter side, and 'Raven Girl' on the taller end.

Enjoy dramatic cut-flower arrangements with your Enchanted Bearded Iris collection. Irises have sturdy foliage and thick stems that are great for long-lasting cut flower arrangements.

Let these enchanting ladies come to life by planting in full sun and well-draining soil. Bearded irises will multiply year after year, so be sure to give their rhizomes (bulbs) 12-24 inches between them when planting. Bury them just enough so that the top of the rhizome shows through the soil, and the roots will grow horizontally.

Our Enchanted Bearded Iris Collection contains 5 or 15 bulbs bulbs total, including one or three of each:

'Dangerous Mood' Bearded Iris (early to mid spring, 24-36" tall)
'Anaconda Love' Bearded Iris (late spring, 24” tall)
'Wild Irish Rose' Bearded Iris (late spring, 24-36" tall)
'Sugar Blues' Reblooming Bearded Iris (late spring, 36” tall)
'Raven Girl' Bearded Iris – (late spring, 39” tall)

*Not all plants will be in bloom at the same time, as depicted on the illustration. Plants are subject to change due to availability. If we make substitutions, we feature plants with similar attributes suitable to the garden/collection design.
