‘Golden Anniversary’ Lamium, also known as Dead Nettle, brings unique color to the shade garden with tri-colored variegated foliage and pink flowers. Each deep green leaf has a silver center stripe and bright chartreuse edges. The petite scalloped foliage lends interesting texture to the garden, perfect for ground cover, borders, pathways, slopes, and woodland gardens. Masses of small pink blooms rise above the foliage in mid-spring, and return on and off again through autumn. (Lamium maculatum ‘Dellam’)

USDA Hardiness Planting Zones

To determine if a plant is sufficiently cold hardy, the USDA created numbered zones indicating winter low temperatures; the lower the zone number the colder the winter.

  • If the coldest winter temperature expected in your area is -15°F (zone 5) then any plants rated zones 3-5 will survive the winter temperatures in your area.
  • If you live in very warm winter areas (zones 9-11) plants with zones 3-4 ratings are not recommended. The lack of freezing winter temperatures do not provide a time for winter dormancy (rest).

Plant Information

3-9" tall x 6-18” wide. Tough and showy, ‘Golden Anniversary’ Lamium is an ideal groundcover for shady gardens. Though it prefers moist soils, Lamium tolerates dry soils and periods of drought. Plant in light to heavy shade to edge pathways and stabilize soil on slopes. With an abundance of blooms and stunning foliage, ‘Golden Anniversary’ also looks lovely spilling from hanging baskets and containers on shady porches. Pair with Hostas, Sedges, and Hellebores (Lenten Rose) in the woodland garden.  Lamium has a spreading habit which can be managed by cutting plants back at any time. United States Plant Patent PP#11,783.
