Our Bright Creeping Phlox Collection offers a colorful quilt-like groundcover to dress up the early spring garden. Cushiony mats of fine-textured foliage burst into bloom, blanketing the garden in star-shaped flowers and attracting pollinators. Lovely planted along a walkway, tucked among the boulders of a rock garden, or cascading over a rock wall or the edge of a planter. Collection of 4 or 12 plants.

USDA Hardiness Planting Zones

To determine if a plant is sufficiently cold hardy, the USDA created numbered zones indicating winter low temperatures; the lower the zone number the colder the winter.

  • If the coldest winter temperature expected in your area is -15°F (zone 5) then any plants rated zones 3-5 will survive the winter temperatures in your area.
  • If you live in very warm winter areas (zones 9-11) plants with zones 3-4 ratings are not recommended. The lack of freezing winter temperatures do not provide a time for winter dormancy (rest).

Plant Information

Start the spring season in style with our Bright Creeping Phlox Collection. In early spring, the dense mats of fine-textured bright green foliage burst into glorious bloom, with the foliage barely visible beneath the blanket of star-shaped flowers. Blooming for several weeks each spring when we're just shaking off our winter coats, Creeping Phlox are carefree, hardy groundcovers that spread without becoming invasive. They're also an important early source of nectar for pollinators. Perfect for complementing taller perennials such as Bearded Iris, Siberian Iris, or Garden Phlox, and lovely paired with taller spring-blooming bulbs such as Daffodils and Tulips. Deer resistant and drought tolerant once established.

Our Bright Creeping Phlox Collection includes 4 plants (1 of each, covering roughly 3-10 sq ft) or 12 plants (3 of each, covering roughly 10-30 sq ft):

Shipped as Potted Plants:
'Scarlet Flame' Creeping Phlox
'Emerald Blue' Creeping Phlox
'Purple Beauty' Creeping Phlox
'Red Wings' Creeping Phlox

*Plants are subject to change due to availability, and if we make substitutions, we feature plants with similar attributes suitable to the collection design.

As soon as your order is placed you will receive a confirmation email. You will receive a second email the day your order ships telling you how it has been sent. Some perennials are shipped as potted plants, some as perennial roots packed in peat.  The ‘Plant Information’ section describes how that item will ship. All perennials and spring-planted bulbs are packaged to withstand shipping and are fully-guaranteed. Please open upon receipt and follow the instructions included.

Perennials and spring-planted bulbs are shipped at the proper planting time for your hardiness zone. Perennial and spring-planted bulb orders will arrive separately from seeds.
