Grow Bluebeard ‘Snow Fairy’ for its outstanding variegated gray-green and white foliage. Unlike other variegated plants, this foliage of this perennial—that behaves like a small shrub—does not scorch in hot summer sun. Small blue flowers cover the plants in late summer, but the foliage is the main attraction. It absolutely lights up the garden! (Caryopteris divaricata)
To determine if a plant is sufficiently cold hardy, the USDA created numbered zones indicating winter low
temperatures; the lower the zone number the colder the winter.
If the coldest winter temperature expected in your area is -15°F (zone 5) then any plants rated zones 3-5 will
survive the winter temperatures in your area.
If you live in very warm winter areas (zones 9-11) plants with zones 3-4 ratings are not recommended. The lack
of freezing winter temperatures do not provide a time for winter dormancy (rest).
24-36" tall and 24-36" wide. Bluebeard ‘Snow Fairy’ brightens up the perennial border with its green and white variegated leaves. The plant does bloom in late summer with purple flowers, but those are far from the main attraction. ‘Snow Fairy’ grows best in full to partial sun. Plants thrive in average soil and are drought-tolerant once established. They do not grow well in waterlogged locations. Highly-scented leaves repel deer. While it looks like a shrub, this plant is an herbaceous perennial. Cut back in the late winter or early spring. It will grow back out in a lovely symmetrical, rounded form.
