Attract Butterflies with Perennial Flowers

Draw butterflies to the garden with nectar-rich flowers

To see scads of dancing butterflies visiting your garden, you'll want to add nectar-rich flowers with open petals and short tubular blooms - perfect fits for the long, skinny "probosci" they use to suck up nectar. You'll also want to be sure that you've planted flowers with a range of bloom times, from early spring through fall, to keep hungry butterflies fed throughout the season. Because butterflies are most active in full sun, most of their favorite blooms are also great fits for sunny sites.
