Plant Information

This beautiful hollyhock is a knockout. Growing up to 6 feet, each flower stem is arrayed with big (up to 4) blooms in raspberry and white. You'll have the semi-doubles with a fluffy center, and then the singles, which feature a bright yellow center, all on the same plant.

Everybody loves Hollyhocks--tall beauties that create tremendous color wherever they grow. They quickly create spires of flowers up to 5 or 6 feet.

These old-fashioned plants are famous for being biennial which means they bloom their second year from seed.

Hollyhocks are great for the back of the border, and also as a blooming screen for unsightly views or other things you'd like to hide with beautiful flowers all summer long.

Comments about American Meadows Hollyhock Creme de Cassis:

The plant is very healthy. It's what you expect in the first year of Hollyhocks. If the plant survives to next year, I'll reap the rewards.

Comments about American Meadows Hollyhock Creme de Cassis:

My Hollyhocks arrived in excellent condition. I immediately planted them and have been enjoying these tall and beautiful plants all summer. The only negative is that some bug seems to love eating the leaves, however the blooms remain fine and simply beautiful. Hollyhocks remind me of my grandmother's when I was a young child. I consider them heirloom plants.

Comments about American Meadows Hollyhock Creme de Cassis:

This grew to 11 feet tall--first year! Hollyhocks aren't necessarily common in TX, so I'm still learning what's best ... does well in our sun and heat, but definitely needs enough water. chewing pests really like it, but as it filled out, it was very healthy. Will be interested to see how it does next year.

Of the three hollyhocks ordered and planted only one bloomed and reached its stated height. This is my first time with them, with additional research I'm sure they'll be better next time. I'd re-order them again because they are stately and elegant.

Comments about American Meadows Hollyhock Creme de Cassis:

Didn't know if this would do well in Texas heat, but it does as long as it gets enough water. First year, so planning to improve the soil and see how it does next year.

Although the plant did not grow very tall, the blooms were amazing. Huge white flowers with deep burgundy/purple throat. Highly recommend for the back of the border or in front of a wall or fence.

              Q & A

              Plant With These:

              USDA Hardiness Planting Zones

To determine if a plant is sufficiently cold hardy, the USDA created numbered zones indicating winter low temperatures; the lower the zone number the colder the winter.

              • If the coldest winter temperature expected in your area is -15°F (zone 5) then any plants rated zones 3-5 will survive the winter temperatures in your area.
              • If you live in very warm winter areas (zones 9-11) plants with zones 3-4 ratings are not recommended. The lack of freezing winter temperatures do not provide a time for winter dormancy (rest).
