36-48" tall x 24-30" wide. Bluebird Aster (Aster laevis) is a magnificent addition to the late season garden, has superb color and endless adaptability. Tolerant of full sun to light shade conditions, grow ‘Bluebird’ in any soil, from heavy clay to shallow, rocky soils. Mass along slopes for erosion control. Plants perform well in hot climates and have good drought tolerance. A long lived perennial ideal for woodland edges, meadows, and cottage gardens, plant alongside ornamental grasses and golden fall blooms. The golden-eyed blooms provide an excellent food source for fall-migrating monarchs. Foliage is mildew resistant and virtually pest free. Rich soils produce taller plants that can be cut back in late June to promote denser branching and flowering. Divide plants every two-three years as needed. Deer and rabbit resistant.
