USDA Hardiness Planting Zones

To determine if a plant is sufficiently cold hardy, the USDA created numbered zones indicating winter low temperatures; the lower the zone number the colder the winter.

  • If the coldest winter temperature expected in your area is -15°F (zone 5) then any plants rated zones 3-5 will survive the winter temperatures in your area.
  • If you live in very warm winter areas (zones 9-11) plants with zones 3-4 ratings are not recommended. The lack of freezing winter temperatures do not provide a time for winter dormancy (rest).

Plant Information
24-36" tall x 24-30" wide. KICKIN® Pink Chiffon Aster (Aster novae-angliae) was selected for its compact growth habit and abundance of blooms, it’s perfect for adding late-season color to containers and along the front of sunny beds. Be sure to add a drift of ‘Pink Chiffon’ to the butterfly garden. Also lovely in rock gardens or naturalized in meadows and among wildflower plantings. A selection of the North American native aster, 'Pink Chiffon' is easy to grow and performs best with a moist rich soil. Plants tolerate clay soils and are resistant to deer and rabbits. Give KICKIN® 'Pink Chiffon' Aster plenty of sunshine and room to grow. Good air circulation keeps foliage mildew-free. The daisy-like blooms of 'Pink Chiffon' are semi-double and have a golden eye, making a lovely cut flower. Plant among fall-blooming grasses and broad-leaved perennials for textural contrast.
