USDA Hardiness Planting Zones

To determine if a plant is sufficiently cold hardy, the USDA created numbered zones indicating winter low temperatures; the lower the zone number the colder the winter.

  • If the coldest winter temperature expected in your area is -15°F (zone 5) then any plants rated zones 3-5 will survive the winter temperatures in your area.
  • If you live in very warm winter areas (zones 9-11) plants with zones 3-4 ratings are not recommended. The lack of freezing winter temperatures do not provide a time for winter dormancy (rest).

Plant Information

(2-48" tall x 10-48" wide) Our Mini Moonlight Plant Collection features compact plant varieties that are ideally suited to small-space gardens and container gardens for easy gardening anywhere. Pale floral hues reflect the evening moonlight and create an inviting evening sanctuary. Bloom times range from spring through fall, providing a continuous display. ‘Snowflake’ Creeping Phlox forms a carpet of white star-shaped flowers each spring. 'Buzz® Ivory' Butterfly Bush grows a manageable 3-4’ tall, with fragrant prolific flower spikes that bloom from spring through fall, irresistible to butterflies. The fragrant, long-lasting blooms of 'Arctic Fire' Dianthus flowers feature snow-white petals contrasted by raspberry-red centers, blooming from late spring to late summer. 'Camelot Lavender' Foxglove takes center stage with impressive spires of pale lavender, bell-shaped blooms from late spring to mid-summer. Forming a compact mound, 'Snowcap' Shasta Daisy boasts huge white blooms with cheery yellow centers from early summer to fall. Plant this collection in full sun and rich, well-drained soil. Hardy in zones 5-9.  We suggest planting this collection as an add on to our Moonlight Pre-Planned Garden, or with our Mini Moonlight Plant Collection.
