(12-24”tall x 20”wide) Hummelo Betony can add a great deal of excitement to the edges of your perennial borders, mixed beds and containers, with its robust habit and a long, vigorous flowering display. ‘Hummelo’ came top of The Chicago Botanic Garden’s study of cultivated Stachys for good reason. Its overall plant health is outstanding, and the deeply textured leaves make a statement in the garden even when the plant isn’t blooming. When it does bloom in late spring, you’ll enjoy a beautiful display of purple flowers held on long leafless stems above strong green foliage. Good for sunny areas in well-drained soil of average fertility. If you live in a hot and humid climate, some protection from strong afternoon sun is preferred. A member of the mint family, ‘Hummelo’ will spread easily into large stands in a couple growing seasons and is rabbit and deer resistant.
